Established in 1946, our Washington, DC office is the firm’s oldest and largest. Since its foundation, the DC office has continued to grow in a constantly evolving legal market while remaining committed to Arnold & Porter’s core values of excellence, professionalism, diversity, respect, and public service.
As one of the nation's leading regulatory practices, we offer clients in regulated industries a valuable combination of regulatory experience and knowledge of the inner workings of the US government and its agencies. Practicing among our DC lawyers are many former high-ranking government officials whose experience provides critical insight in developing strategy and resolving issues for our clients. (A complete list of our government service is available here.)
Our interdisciplinary corporate and transactional practices represent national and international clients of various sizes from a wide range of industries. Arnold & Porter’s lawyers’ ability to draw on diverse practice areas within the firm is a key strength in negotiating a variety of specialized commercial contracts, as well as in most types of corporate transactions. We work with clients to help them meet their goals by effectively handling both routine corporate matters and high-stakes transactions that require innovative thinking and novel structures.
Arnold & Porter’s litigation group has grown to be the firm’s largest practice. It integrates the firm's deep expertise, combining a thorough understanding of the regulatory, technical, and business issues facing our clients with creative legal analysis to develop effective defense strategies. Our seasoned group of litigators represent client interests in trial and appellate courts, as well as before government agencies and other tribunals.
Arnold & Porter was recently named Washington, D.C.
