VIDEOCAST: Snapshot of the Critical PPACA Fraud & Abuse Enforcement Provisions

Date

May 12, 2010

Participants

Kirk Ogrosky and Allison W. Shuren

Materials

On March 23, 2010, the landmark healthcare legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), was signed into law. It is already having an impact on how the government pursues fraud and abuse matters in the healthcare arena. In this six-minute video, two Arnold & Porter partners in the FDA and Healthcare practice provide a snapshot of several key PPACA provisions. This overview includes a high-level discussion addressing the government's fraud and abuse budget, changes to CMP provisions, the new "private disclosure bar" provision in the False Claims Act (FCA), the rules on the return of Medicare overpayments, and the new Medicaid mandatory exclusion rules.

In coming weeks Arnold & Porter attorneys will provide additional snapshots on other impacts of the healthcare reform legislation. We hope you find these videos helpful. We welcome suggestions for additional discussions or areas of focus.
