Since the 1991 opening of the firm's first California office, Arnold & Porter’s Los Angeles attorneys have represented clients spanning the region's most vibrant industries, including pharmaceutical and biotech companies; banking, insurance and financial services institutions; energy and consumer product companies; healthcare providers; and entertainment and media corporations. Our Los Angeles attorneys regularly partner with colleagues from our two Northern California offices, as well as attorneys throughout the firm, to provide coordinated services in more than 30 practice areas.
Our Los Angeles practice is broad-based and well-respected both locally and nationally. Clients from across the country regularly turn to us to handle complex commercial and corporate lawsuits and arbitrations; intellectual property and technology litigation; product liability and consumer protection matters; antitrust and trade regulation litigation; environmental and regulatory proceedings; corporate transactions; international arbitration and bankruptcy matters.
Our attorneys are consistently recognized by Chambers and Best Lawyers. In 2015, Chambers USA named five of our Los Angeles attorneys as "leading lawyers" in the areas of antitrust, IP, IT & outsourcing, and bankruptcy. Several of our attorneys also have appeared on the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Attorneys” and “Top IP Attorneys” lists.
The Los Angeles office has an active and widely-recognized pro bono practice with attorneys representing homeless veterans against the US Veterans Administration. Our attorneys also are working on immigration proceedings, First Amendment litigation, tenants' rights issues, asylum matters, and protection of voting rights in various states. In 2014, the Los Angeles office was recognized as the “Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” by Public Counsel, the largest pro bono law firm in the nation. The office's pro bono excellence also has been the subject of formal recognition by the American Bar Association, the California Lawyer/Daily Journal, and the HIV/AIDS Legal Service Alliance.
