Brenda Jackson-Cooper is an associate in the firm’s tax and estates practice group. She specializes in domestic and international estate planning, estate and trust administration, and related areas of federal and state tax law including estate and gift tax, generation-skipping tax and fiduciary income tax. Ms. Jackson-Cooper also implements lifetime and deferred charitable giving strategies and business succession plans, as well as complex arrangements for preserving family wealth through multiple generations. Her practice also includes the creation of tax-exempt organizations (both public charities and private foundations) and representation of these organizations with respect to their corporate governance and tax compliance matters.
Ms. Jackson-Cooper has participated in programs sponsored by the DC Bar Pro Bono Program’s Community Economic Development Project. She also volunteers at and coordinates the firm's work with respect to the Whitman Walker Estate Planning Clinic.
Awarded the Ally of Justice Award for her pro bono work on behalf of the Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization working to achieve equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals
