Kavita Kumar Puri is a litigator in the Washington office. Her practice has focused on complex commercial litigation, securities class actions, derivative litigation, accountant liability and advisory work, corporate litigation, and SEC enforcement matters. She has done some antitrust and insurance litigation. Her clients have included financial institutions, accounting firms, private real estate investment companies, and publicly traded companies. Her appellate practice has included appeals concerning complex commercial cases on behalf of financial institutions and a privately held company.
Before joining Arnold & Porter LLP in 2007, Kavita served as a law clerk to the Honorable Charles S. Haight, Jr. in the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York in 2002, and to the Honorable Dolores K. Sloviter in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2003.
Kavita graduated Columbia Law School in 2002 as a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and served as a Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review during law school. Prior to law school, she worked as a Research Analyst in a consulting practice of Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) from 1997 through 1999.
