Head of the firm's telecommunications group in London, Michael has over 25 years of experience in the industry. He advises international telecommunications operators, service providers, and Internet service providers on regulatory and commercial issues. He is frequently consulted by regulatory authorities and financial institutions on regulatory issues affecting the telecommunications sector. Chambers 2011 said that Michael “understands telecoms regulation in a vast amount of detail and is instant in terms of responsiveness.”
Michael’s recent publications include articles in the Computer and Telecommunications Law Review, the European Competition Law Review, Convergence (published by the Communications Committee of the International Bar Association), and the McGill Law Journal, and chapters in the Communications Law Handbook and Promoting New Telecom Infrastructures: Markets, Policies and Pricing.Michael is the editor of The EU Regulatory Framework for Electronic Communications Handbook, 2010.

- Advising an Asian regulatory authority on issues related to the international regulation of satellites.
- Advising a UK/South African broadcaster on regulatory, corporate, commercial, and intellectual property law issues related to the launch of a satellite-based television service in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Representing a Canadian operator in a regulatory proceeding fixing the terms of a price cap for its services.
- Representing an Internet Protocol Television provider on EU regulatory issues.
- Representing SBC Communications (now AT&T Inc.) in obtaining regulatory approvals in all jurisdictions outside the US required in connection with its acquisition of AT&T Corp.
- Representing the Ministry of Infomatics, Hungary, in an arbitration initiated by Telenor alleging that Hungarian regulatory policies and practices violated a bilateral investment treaty.
