Stephanie Birmanns is counsel in the firm's Antitrust/Competition practice group. She is a German-qualified lawyer and has more than a decade of experience advising on a broad range of matters under German and European antitrust law.
Ms. Birmanns regularly represents clients in merger control cases before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office, including a number of complex second phase investigations with and without remedies. Her merger control practice also includes the assessment of filing obligations in other jurisdictions worldwide and the coordination of multijurisdictional filings.
In addition, Ms. Birmanns has extensive experience in representing clients in cartel investigations before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office. She also frequently advises on numerous other matters, including antitrust complaints, compliance programs, horizontal and vertical collaborations, commercial arrangements, and antitrust litigation.
Among other industries, Ms. Birmanns has gained significant experience in the (petro) chemical, electricity, paper, transport, insurance, biotechnology, and medical industries.
Prior to joining Arnold & Porter, Ms. Birmanns worked with another US law firm in Germany and Brussels. She is fluent in English and German.
