Alex Watt is a solicitor in the London office who works on both contentious and transactional intellectual property matters.

He advises on information technology hardware and software agreements, sponsorship, brand protection, licensing and distribution issues, the advertising codes of practice, data protection issues, event agreements, franchising arrangements, and general commercial contracts. He has presented seminars on the legal impact of new-media technologies such as digital rights management (DRM) systems, P2P networks, as well as on content distribution and mobile and wireless technology.

His transactional practice has included work with the film industry (seconded to Universal Pictures), the interactive games industry (drafting development, distribution, and licence agreements), the music industry (recording, publishing, and engagement agreements), and the television industry (seconded to the BBC and adjudicating for Endemol on television shows).

His contentious practice has included intellectual property disputes such as trade mark infringement and domain name disputes, as well as substantial work within the specialist fields of privacy and defamation. He is experienced in various forms of alternative dispute resolution as well as proceedings in the High Court.
