Cate Baskin assists clients on government contracts and national security matters, such as export controls and ITAR compliance. Cate also has significant experience helping small businesses navigate Small Business Administration (SBA) programs.

Cate is passionate about working on pro bono matters, particularly representing incarcerated individuals in post-conviction proceedings, as well as other advocacy in the environmental justice space. Cate is a founding member of the firm’s Sustainability Committee, as well as an active member of the firm’s Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) working group.

Cate received her law degree cum laude from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, where she served as the symposium editor for the Northwestern Journal of Human Rights, and received the 2022 Lowden-Wigmore Prize for best-written student publication.

While in law school, Cate externed at Reveal from The Center of Investigative Reporting, where she worked on government transparency issues, and the Corporate Accountability Lab, where she helped develop legal solutions to transnational supply chain and human rights concerns. She also led external communications for the Northwestern chapter of the American Constitution Society.

Prior to law school, Cate worked as a public relations and social impact strategist for corporations and non-profits.
