Andrew Berger practices in the areas of domestic and international tax and estate planning, with a particular emphasis on advising clients with respect to pre-immigration and expatriation planning, US inbound and outbound investment structuring, tax compliance and reporting, and voluntary disclosure proceedings with the IRS.
Mr. Berger also has broad experience with the administration of trusts and estates, and counseling individual and corporate fiduciaries in the performance of their duties. As part of this work, he is often called upon by fiduciaries and beneficiaries to provide advice with respect to domestic and foreign trust issues and post-mortem planning.
In addition, Mr. Berger provides corporate and tax planning for domestic and international closely-held businesses. In particular, he advises on choice-of-entity issues at the formation stage and the tax and non-tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, financing transaction, joint ventures, recapitalizations, and general corporate matters. His broad experience in corporate, tax, and estate planning matters has uniquely positioned him to counsel clients with both their business operations and their personal planning needs, which are often closely interconnected.
