Dr. Rui Gao supports our patent prosecution practice in the areas of medical devices, biotechnology, and life sciences. She has research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, cancer biology, and genetics.
Dr. Gao received her PhD in Cancer Biology from the Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. During her graduate research, she developed novel methods for in vitro and in vivo manipulation of the mouse genome to study the impact of chromosomal abnormalities on cancer development and progression. As part of her research, she used CRISPR-Cas9 and other gene editing techniques to investigate the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying several types of chromosomal mutations found in cancer patient samples.
Before joining the firm, Dr. Gao was a technical specialist at a large IP boutique firm.
