Mr. Land is retired from the practice of law. He focused his practice on antitrust and trade regulation; food, drug, and medical device; product liability; intellectual property; Lanham Act, and related aspects of advertising law. He served as lead counsel in major advertising cases before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). He also served as lead counsel in a number of Lanham Act litigations, and represented food and drug clients in numerous administrative and enforcement matters before the FDA, the Department of Justice, and the FTC. He participated significantly in pro bono activities throughout his career, representing disadvantaged persons in need of legal services and in defense of civil rights. He played a prominent role in the management of Arnold & Porter, having served many years on the Firm's Executive Committee. He is a past chair of the firm and has been designated Chair Emeritus. Mr. Land has served as co-chair of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and has co-chaired its Washington, DC affiliate. He was active as a member of the Committee on Public Education (CORE), the Public Charter School Coalition, and Federal City Council.
