Dr. Kajan Ratnakumar supports patent prosecutions in the biotechnology and life sciences areas. His research, some of which has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, includes molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics.
Dr. Ratnakumar received his PhD in biomedical sciences from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC. During his dissertation he studied the role of epigenetics and chromatin dynamics in cancer progression, embryonic stem cell differentiation and hematological malignancy. After completing his graduate work, Dr. Ratnakumar was a postdoctoral fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he developed a system to track melanoma metastasis in vivo.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Ratnakumar was a research scientist and technology transfer intern at the University of Washington in Seattle.
