Steve Schon's practice focuses on civil litigation and complex commercial disputes. His experience includes professional liability and insurance litigation, as well as partnership disputes. He also has substantial mediation experience.
Mr. Schon has represented numerous national and international law firms. Substantial representations include defending lawyers against claims of legal malpractice, securities fraud, RICO violations, conflict of interest, breach of fiduciary duty and malicious prosecution. Mr. Schon also is experienced in resolution of disputes relating to law firm dissolutions, mergers and separations of attorneys from their former firms.
While in law school, Mr. Schon was the Articles Editor for the Michigan Law Review and then served as law clerk to Judge J. Edward Lumbard, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
He has been a speaker and panelist on numerous occasions, including the Bar Association of San Francisco/The Rutter Group's presentations on "Civil Procedure Before Trial," and numerous panels on subjects relating to professional malpractice and ethics.
Mr. Schon is currently listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Commercial Litigation Law and Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law. Mr. Schon also is an AV-rated attorney, a peer-awarded honor given by Martindale-Hubbell.
