Jay Swanson focuses on appellate and complex civil litigation in state and federal courts. He has represented parties at the certiorari and merits stages in the US Supreme Court and successfully briefed cases raising high-stakes issues of constitutional interpretation, administrative law, and criminal procedure, among others. Mr. Swanson joined the firm in 2020 after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a graduate of University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor of the Virginia Law Review and won the school's moot court competition.
