Lisa Blatt Receives The J. Reuben Clark Law Society's Rex Lee Advocacy Award
Arnold & Porter partner Lisa S. Blatt, who heads the firm's Appellate and Supreme Court practice, received the Rex Lee Advocacy Award from the J. Reuben Clark Law Society's DC/Mid-Atlantic Chapter on June 6, 2018.
The Rex Lee Advocacy Award is annually presented to "one of the nation's outstanding advocates" whose legal work reflects the values exemplified by the award's namesake, Rex Lee. Throughout his career, Lee argued 59 cases before the United States Supreme Court, served as the Solicitor General of the United States, and was the founding Dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. The J. Reuben Clark Law Society notes that winners of this award embody Lee's "excellent and principled advocacy."
Blatt has an active practice in the federal and state courts of appeals. Her oral advocacy is cited as exemplary in the Supreme Court Clerk's Guide for Counsel and she has argued 35 cases before the Supreme Court; she prevailed in 33. The National Law Journal has called her one of "the 100 most influential lawyers in America," and The Washingtonian has listed her four times as one of the "Most Powerful Women in Washington."
