E-Commerce and Technology
International, federal, and state laws are rapidly imposing on businesses, particularly in the context of electronic commerce, strict requirements with respect to the collection, use, retention, and disclosure of personal information. Our privacy team counsels companies on compliance with the full range of privacy and security laws affecting e-commerce and the Internet, including Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act ("E-Sign Act") and state laws governing electronic signatures and transactions, as well as the growing body of state laws affecting the use of personal information collected online. The firm also offer clients assistance on particular issues facing telecommunications companies, including increasing legal and policy concerns about the privacy of wireless and broadband communications.
