G-1 Holdings Chapter 11 case
Our attorneys served as special environmental counsel to the debtors in the G-1 Holdings Chapter 11 case in New Jersey in connection with claims filed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Vermont relating to the clean-up of a large former mining site. The filed claims totaled in the hundreds of millions of dollars and the government asserted that the claims could not be fully discharged in bankruptcy. Our attorneys commenced litigation on behalf of the client over the government's claims and negotiated a resolution including transferring the liability to a trust funded by the debtor. This resolution paved the way for G-1 Holdings's successful reorganization and emergence from bankruptcy.
