United States v. General Electric
In a significant criminal antitrust trial, our attorneys achieved dismissal, after seven weeks of trial, of the US government's criminal case against GE for allegedly fixing the price of industrial diamonds. The case involved allegations that GE and its principal competitor in the industrial diamonds business (DeBeers) had exchanged advanced information about planned price increases and had agreed to raise prices. In the middle of GE's putting on its side of the case, the judge ruled for the defense. The victory was featured as a cover article in The American Lawyer magazine.
