Government e-Books Investigations and Litigations
Our attorney Scott Lent represented HarperCollins Publishers in the US Department of Justice, State Attorneys General, and other worldwide jurisdictions’ investigations relating to the sale and distribution of e-books, as well as the follow-on governmental and private litigations in which five publishers and Apple were accused of conspiring to raise the price of e-books to consumers. Apple chose to defend itself in a much publicized trial in the Southern District of New York in June 2013 and was found liable for price fixing. Mr. Lent was successful in negotiating the settlements of those antitrust investigations as well as the related governmental litigations.
