Interfaith Community Organization v. Honeywell
A group of citizens filed suit against the former owner/operator of a chromate manufacturing plant in Jersey City, New Jersey. While the case was being handled by another law firm, the federal district court held that the property presented an imminent and substantial endangerment under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and ordered a cleanup. Our attorneys were brought in by the client to handle the appeal. Due to our team's approach on the briefs, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit vacated the district court's award of a several-million-dollar statutory attorney fee award as unsupported and excessive.
