Online voter education program

League of Women Voters

Beginning in 1995, our attorneys worked with the League to develop their online presence, creating groundbreaking voter education activities for the Internet. We worked closely with a client in developing an online voter education program that provides information on candidates' views on specific issues, voter registration and ballot information, and links to candidate's web pages and other sites. We worked with the client to obtain approval from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and informal guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on the operation of the program. The standards worked out by our attorneys and the League have been cited by the IRS and the FEC as the "gold standard" for other organizations to follow when engaging in nonpartisan, online voter education.
