Redevelopment of Square 54

The George Washington University

Our attorneys represented The George Washington University (GWU) in connection with the redevelopment of Square 54, the old GWU Hospital site. The site consists of over two acres located on Pennsylvania Avenue, at the entrance to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station and a gateway to GWU’s campus.  The transaction involved the ground lease of the site to Boston Properties, Inc., and its redevelopment as 436,000 sf of first class office space, 328,000 sf of residential rental, 84,000 sf of retail, and a 1000+ space parking garage shared by GWU and Boston Properties.
