Comprehensive Analysis of Antidiscrimination Laws for Businesses with Employees in the US and Germany

Jay Waks, partner in the Litigation Department of the New York office and Chair of the firm's Employment & Labor Law practice, and Hans-Joachim Fritz, partner in the Frankfurt office, presented the forum titled "Antidiscrimination Law with Respect to Employees in Germany and the US - a Transatlantic Challenge" ("Antidiskriminierungsrecht von Arbeitnehmern in Deutschland und in den USA - eine transatlantische Herausforderung") in Frankfurt on June 19, 2007. Valuable analysis and case studies regarding US and German antidiscrimination laws were created for the forum and are available for distribution to interested clients.

The forum, sponsored with the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany, presented comparable judicial developments in employment antidiscrimination laws in Germany and the US with a focus on issues regarding the exchange of personnel between the two countries and potential risks which could develop against the background of the existing rules and the recently enacted German antidiscrimination law ("Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz").

Attending the forum were many prominent international companies who conduct business in the US and Germany, including DZ Bank, IMS Health, KPMG, Nike, Ross Europa, The Bank of New York, TRW, United Airlines, Verizon Business as well as several leading German law firms.
