Devin Adams focuses his practice on complex civil litigation in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He handles high-stakes disputes for plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of industries, including transportation, insurance, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, media & telecommunications, and technology.
Having served for four years as a judicial law clerk for a federal appellate court judge and two federal district court judges, Devin brings a valuable perspective to persuading judges and juries. During his time as a judicial law clerk, he also gained extensive substantive and procedural knowledge from numerous cases, including novel civil RICO claims, a State’s discontinuance of health benefits for retired officers, pharmaceutical liability, arbitration demands, various class actions, constitutional claims, challenges to federal agency actions, and a high-profile defamation lawsuit against several major media outlets.
During law school, Devin and his trial team were champions at a national trial competition, where he delivered the closing argument. As an appellate advocate, he advanced to the semifinals or quarterfinals in five national moot court competitions. He acquired additional litigation experience as an intern for a state trial court judge and a federal district court judge in Virginia, as well as the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Devin was also recognized for his legal scholarship in law school. His article on federal search warrants for information in cyberspace was published in the University of Richmond Law Review and has been cited by legal scholars and commentators. He managed several other projects as a member of the editorial board for the law review and a teaching assistant for first-year legal research and writing.
Devin graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law. At that time, he was inducted into two national honor societies: Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers.
Before attending law school, Devin earned his undergraduate degree in business marketing. He worked for four years as a door-to-door sales representative and team manager for a national pest control company.
