Marisa Bocci is part of the firm’s Real Estate practice. She advises asset managers and institutional investors on direct investments, co-investments, joint ventures, and other strategies related to tangible assets across various sectors. Marisa also guides corporate and nonprofit clients with their real estate needs, assisting in assembling and managing their real estate facilities. She handles a variety of real estate transactions, including purchase and sale agreements, joint venture structures, property management, and leasing. Marisa’s practice includes acquiring or selling real estate portfolios, often across multiple jurisdictions, whether through several serial transactions or a single large-scale, multi-property deal.
In her commercial real estate practice, Marisa assists national and international companies with their operating real estate needs, including the purchase and development of manufacturing, R&D, corporate campus, and warehouse facilities. In the hospitality sector, she advises clients on hotel, golf, and restaurant matters. She also advises universities, churches, hospitals, and arts organizations on real estate transactions, joint ventures, leasing, and other matters relating to the ownership and operation of a real estate portfolio.
Marisa has specific experience working on agribusiness investments, often on behalf of family offices, pension funds, investment management, and private equity clients. She handles large-scale transactions involving purchasing, selling, leasing, and financing farmland. She also advises on operational issues specific to the industry, including proprietary crops, Bureau of Reclamation water arrangements, packing and custom farming contracts, and agribusiness-related M&A transactions.
Many of Marisa’s matters involve foreign investment in U.S. real estate assets, particularly agricultural properties. She advises clients on federal and state foreign and corporate ownership regulations regarding the ownership and operation of real estate, including analysis of pending state and federal legislation. She also assists clients with the AFIDA and state-analogous disclosure filing, including work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture regarding compliance matters.
Marisa received her certification in Sustainable Capitalism and ESG Online from the Berkeley Law Executive Education in 2021. She frequently speaks and writes on agribusiness and real estate law.
