Laura E. Jensen

Senior Attorney

Laura is a Senior Attorney in Arnold & Porter’s Environmental Practice Group.  She focuses primarily on environmental litigation, including disputes concerning contaminated sites and emerging contaminants. She has experience practicing under a range of federal and state statutes, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the Clean Water Act (CWA).

Prior to joining the Firm, Laura practiced at a Chambers-ranked law firm in Portland, Maine, and advised the water and air bureaus of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as an Assistant Attorney General. She also managed the top-ranked environmental law program at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she served as an adjunct professor and worked closely with faculty and students on environmental legal research, publications, and conferences.

Laura served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ellen A. Gorman, Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

  • A group of over 70 companies in multiple litigations regarding CERCLA remediation costs associated with the Lower Passaic River in New Jersey estimated $1.8 billion.*
  • Large trust in successful Second Circuit Appeal overturning Northern District of New York dismissal of CERCLA Section 107 and 113 claims.*
  • Chemical company in PFAS litigation brought by the State of Maine for Natural Resource Damages for alleged contamination.*
  • Maine Department of Environmental Protection in permitting of a proposed $500 million land based aquaculture facility and related litigation.*
