David McMullen's experience includes providing litigation support, prosecuting US patents, and assisting with patent infringement analysis and inter partes reviews. He is also involved in coordinating foreign patent matters in the fields of organic chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, plant biology, and the life sciences.
Dr. McMullen obtained his PhD in Chemistry in Ottawa, Canada. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders & Stroke, National Institutes of Health, where he researched the underlying pathological mechanisms of stroke and other neurological deficits.
Prior to joining the firm's Intellectual Property group, Dr. McMullen studied the molecular mechanisms of traumatic brain injury at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Department of Defense). His broad research experiences include organic synthesis and purification of DNA-targeted compounds, metabolism, mitochondrial respiration, hibernation, cancer biology, enzyme kinetics and molecular genetics.
Dr. McMullen has an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals and was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships including an Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology.
