Biobased Products: Additional Reporting Requirements for Government Contractors Begin May 18

On April 18, 2012, the US Department of Defense (DOD), General Services Administration (GSA), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) issued a Final Rule (77 FR 23365) amending the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to require contractors to report all biobased products purchased under service and construction contracts. Contractors most likely to be affected by this new rule are involved in the following: cafeteria and food services; construction, maintenance and repair; facility operations and maintenance; and janitorial services.
