Department of Labor Issues New FMLA Regulations

To mark the twentieth anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor (DOL) published new regulations that take effect today, March 8, 2013. These regulations provide additional ways employees can take leave for qualifying military exigencies, expand FMLA's military caregiver leave provisions, clarify rules regarding intermittent leave, establish special rules for airline flight crew employees, update the recordkeeping requirements to comply with the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act (GINA), and move the FMLA leave forms and informational poster from the Act's appendices to the DOL's website (the updated FMLA poster and forms can be found at (www.dol.gov/whd/fmla).
