Medicare's New Physician Payment System: What's Now, and What's Next

May 18, 2015
Webinar

Physician Compensation under Medicare Access and Medicaid Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) is an exclusive offering for OEIS members to learn about the MACRA, which will affect the practice of medicine, the quality of patient care, and physicians' compensation for years to come.

In the short term, MACRA will eliminate the dreaded sustainable growth rate payment cut, while CMS continues to implement programs to pay for quality and value and innovates with accountable care models.

Starting in 2019, MACRA offers higher Medicare payments to physicians who receive a significant share of their compensation through alternative payment models rather than remain in traditional Medicare. Income from both government and private payers will count toward earning those bonuses.

Physicians will face new payment penalties if they do not report measures of quality, cost, practice improvement, and meaningful use of electronic health records.

OEIS is focused on ensuring that its members understand the new rules, have sufficient measures for their scope of practice, and are prepared for the road ahead. In this one hour webinar, Paul Rudolf, MD, JD and Jen Madsen, MPH* from Arnold and Porter, a law firm in Washington, DC, explain the provisions of the new law and answer your questions.
