Please join Arnold & Porter and the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law for a lecture by Sir Daniel Bethlehem KCMG KC on 13 November 2023 at The Inner Temple. Sir Daniel Bethlehem KCMG KC is a barrister and arbitrator practising in the field of public international law from Twenty Essex chambers in London. From May 2006 to May 2011, he was the principal Legal Adviser of the U.K. Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). Prior to this, he was Director of the Lauterpacht Centre of International Law at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Clare Hall, Cambridge. He is currently the Chair of the Lauterpacht Center's Advisory Board.

In addition to his legal practice, Daniel is the founder and director of Legal Policy International Ltd, a strategic consultancy advising on high legal content international policy and political issues. He has been consulted on issues ranging from peace negotiations to third-party conciliation processes and engagement in multilateral and regional diplomatic fora, and has extensive experience of engagement with and at the United Nations and other inter-governmental and supra-national organisations.

In parallel with his legal and advisory practice, Daniel is Visiting Professor in the Department of War Studies at King's College London and has an affiliation with Columbia University in New York, where he remains a Senior Fellow at the Human Rights Institute of Columbia Law School.
