Kaiser Quoted in Law360 on Revised Patent Processes

Intellectual Property Partner Jessica Kaiser was quoted in a Law360 article, "New Policy Seen As Easing PTAB Judges' Pressure Concerns." The article discusses how recently revised processes at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board should lessen concerns raised by preliminary GAO findings, including a survey in which PTAB judges reported feeling pressure from superiors to alter their rulings. While Kaiser stated she had not felt pressure to change any decisions on the merits, she understood how judges could feel like there was a lack of independence. She also said that she is hopeful the new interim process for PTAB decision circulation and internal PTAB review addresses the concerns and that USPTO intervention would be much more transparent.
