The Associated Press Talks With Former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Claire Reade on U.S.-China Trade

Claire Reade, Arnold & Porter International Trade senior counsel and former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for China Affairs, was recently featured in the Associated Press article, “US and China extend trade truce another 90 days, easing tension between world’s largest economies.”

Reade noted that the United States “has realized it does not have the upper hand” as the two countries continue to navigate escalating tariffs and rare earth access, and cautioned that she does not expect much beyond limited agreements, including the purchase of American soybeans and allowing for the continued flow of rare-earth magnets.
