April 20, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 20, 2004 – REVISED – The 2004 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers has ranked Arnold & Porter LLP a leading firm in 12 practice areas. In addition, Chambers cited 20 of the firm’s individual lawyers as leaders in a broad range of practice areas, including antitrust, bankruptcy, environment, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, and tax.

Chambers USA ranked Arnold & Porter’s product liability, healthcare, and water-quality litigation practices in the top band of the publication’s first-ever national rankings.

In Washington, the firm’s antitrust practice was ranked number one for the second year in a row. According to Chambers, the firm’s antitrust group is “at the summit by virtue of sheer weight of talented individuals” and has “a great brand name suffused with tradition.” The practice was noted for tackling “matters of the largest scale” with “six offices nationally and [offices] in London and Brussels.” Seven attorneys in the antitrust group were ranked as leading individuals, more than in any other firm in Washington, D.C. In addition, the firm’s bankruptcy practice in Washington was ranked in the first tier of firms; Chambers said the firm’s bankruptcy team “boasts substantial corporate and non-bankruptcy litigation expertise.”

Other leading practices recognized are general commercial litigation in Los Angeles; environment in New York; and corporate/M&A, environment, intellectual property, general commercial litigation, real estate, and telecommunications in Washington.

Michael Gerrard was identified as the single best environmental lawyer in New York. Other individuals recognized as leading practitioners in their fields are:
