Arnold & Porter Named To American Lawyer's A-List For Second Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 2, 2004 - For the second consecutive year, Arnold & Porter LLP was named to The American Lawyer's A-List, a ranking of the nation's top 20 law firms based on an assessment of core professional values. Announced this week, the 2004 Am Law A-List was created through a composite ranking of four objective factors: revenue per lawyer, pro bono performance, associate satisfaction, and diversity. According to the publication, this year's top-tier ranking "signals to clients which firms are the true leaders in the profession."

Arnold & Porter's distinguished pro bono service, which received one of the highest scores in the country on the Am Law A-List, and the firm's outstanding record on diversity are among the key factors that propelled Arnold & Porter onto the list for the second year running. "We appreciate this significant acknowledgment of our core values and professional success," said Chairman Michael Sohn.

"We created the A-List to measure more than just financial success," said Aric Press, editor in chief of The American Lawyer. "Instead, we looked for a set of core professional values that could be objectively assessed and that would identify the leaders of the profession. This year, our 15 returning firms and five new members had to surpass an even higher cutoff to make the list. We congratulate all of them on their performance."

Widely recognized for its commitment to diversity and public service, Arnold & Porter recently garnered a 2004 Sager Award for the Washington office from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, recognizing the firm's commitment to diversity. In August 2004 the firm received a Pro Bono Publico Award from the American Bar Association for its outstanding contribution to public service in the legal community.

Arnold & Porter also has received a 2004 Constance L. Belfiore Quality of Life Award from the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, honoring the firm's family-friendly benefits and workplace policies, and in January, the firm was named to FORTUNE's 2004 "100 Best Companies to Work For" ranking.
