August 14, 2008

Washington, DC, August 14, 2008 -- Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC named Arnold & Porter LLP to its second annual 2008 "Best Law Firms For Women" list. The list honors 50 winning law firms for their commitment to work/life balance and the retention and advancement of female talent. Reflecting the firm's commitment to excellence in the practice of law and a firmly held set of core values focusing on individuality, diversity and pro bono work, Arnold & Porter is the only firm in the country to be recognized by FORTUNE, Working Mother, and American Lawyer's "A-List."

Profiled in the August/September issue of Working Mother magazine, Arnold & Porter is recognized for creating an environment that encourages the advancement of women through innovative programs and policies that help female attorneys achieve a balance in their personal and professional lives, while thriving as legal practitioners.

Arnold & Porter has been at the forefront of initiatives at law firms that are designed to help women and working parents achieve successful careers. Initiatives include part-time schedules, flexible working schedules, and generous leave policies for maternity, paternity, and adoption. Arnold & Porter was the first law firm in the country to establish a full-time on-site children's center, which has been an award-winning model for childcare.

Working Mother named Arnold & Porter to its annual "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" on eight occasions, including for the past four years. In 2004 and 2005, Arnold & Porter was the only law firm to make the list. In 2007 and 2008, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption named the firm to it's "100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces" list. The firm is only one of three ranked companies in Washington, DC.

To apply for the "Best Law Firms for Women," Arnold & Porter provided detailed information on the retention and promotion of women lawyers in six measured areas: workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, and retention and advancement of women. The application and evaluation process was developed in a partnership by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC and based on Working Mother's annual "100 Best Companies" list.
