Kaye Scholer Wins at Trial for Pro Bono Client, Saves Client’s Home
Kaye Scholer’s pro bono client, Mary M., prevailed at a bench trial against an alleged assignee of a deed of trust that had been fraudulently placed on her property. In 2008, Kaye Scholer prevailed for Ms. M. in a earlier action. In the present case, plaintiff claimed to be an assignee of a defendant in the prior case, the now defunct New Century Mortgage Corporation, and sought to foreclose on the property, which would have left our client homeless. We established at trial that the plaintiff had no valid interest in the property.
The Kaye Scholer trial team included Jonathan M. Rotter and Amanda Myers (Associates, Los Angeles Office), with assistance from Aton Arbisser (Partner & Co-Chair, Los Angeles Office) and Lisa Mammone (Legal Assistant, Los Angeles Office).
