March 17, 2011

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 17, 2011 - Arnold & Porter LLP announced today that experienced trial attorney Paul Alexander has joined the firm in its Silicon Valley office and will practice in the business litigation group. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

"Paul has built his career on high-end trial work and has a superb reputation in the Bay Area," said Chair Thomas Milch. "His talent, experience, and business acumen will be a tremendous asset as we continue to expand our Northern California capabilities and services to clients on the West Coast."

Mr. Alexander's practice has focused on civil trial work involving patent, trade secret, antitrust, unfair competition and complex commercial litigation matters. He has tried significant cases for clients in the semiconductor, computer, information technology, bio-technology, insurance and consumer products sectors. He has extensive experience in civil trial work including both civil jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations in commercial cases involving federal patent laws, federal and state antitrust laws, unfair competition laws, trade secret laws, fraud and contract matters, and cases involving consumer statutes and regulations. Mr. Alexander has tried cases to successful jury verdicts in California superior courts, federal district courts, and other jurisdictions. He also has tried non-jury cases to successful judgment and obtained substantial awards in commercial arbitrations which have been confirmed and enforced.

Mr. Alexander was named to the Northern California Super Lawyers list 2005-2010 for Intellectual Property Litigation, Antitrust Litigation, and Business Litigation, and also named to The Best Lawyers in America list 2009-2011 for Commercial Litigation, Bet-The-Company Litigation, and Insurance Law. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.

"I'm delighted to be joining the firm's growing Silicon Valley office. Arnold & Porter has an incredible breadth of experience in complex commercial litigation, as well as outstanding intellectual property and antitrust groups, which overlap nicely with my practice," said Mr. Alexander.

Mr. Alexander will be the 20th litigator to join Arnold & Porter in Northern California, following the arrival last month of a trial litigation team that focuses on intellectual property matters--James DiBoise, Michael Berta, and Tracy Lane.
