Arnold & Porter's Robert Pitofsky Honored at Georgetown University Law Center

May 30, 2012

Washington, DC, May 30, 2012 -- Robert Pitofsky, long-time counsel at Arnold & Porter and widely regarded as a leader in antitrust and consumer protection law, was honored at Georgetown University Law Center at "A Symposium in Honor of Robert Pitofsky," a series of panels recognizing the contributions he has made to legal scholarship, public policy, and Georgetown Law. As a former commissioner and chair of the Federal Trade Commission and as a former Dean and Executive Vice President for Law Center Affairs at Georgetown Law, Mr. Pitofsky's distinguished career has spanned academia, government, and private practice. Symposium panels discussed Pitofsky's time as a scholar, at Georgetown, as a public official, and chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. Opening remarks were delivered by Christine Varney, partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and former Assistant Attorney General, Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice. Closing remarks were delivered by Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. In addition to the symposium, a scholarship fund was established in Robert Pitofsky's honor. Funded by Arnold & Porter, Bob's colleagues at the firm, Georgetown faculty and staff and other former colleagues and friends of Mr. Pitofsky, the endowed scholarship fund benefits "high merit, high need recipients" at Georgetown Law.
