Arnold & Porter Partner Dipanwita Deb Amar Named Among "Top Labor and Employment Lawyers" by Daily Journal
San Francisco, CA, July 23, 2012 -- Arnold & Porter LLP San Francisco Partner Dipanwita Deb Amar has been named among the "Top Labor and Employment Lawyers" by the Daily Journal. Amar, one of 75 attorneys selected, was noted for her representation of El Camino Hospital to litigate a precedent-setting case that she said affects every employer that contributes to union-sponsored pension funds on behalf of its unioned employees. In Bensi v. El Camino Hospital, IUOE Local 39 sued the hospital in federal court to gain access to its financial records and to compel the hospital to contribute more money to the fund. This year, after a lengthy oral argument, Amar obtained summary judgment on all claims. The Daily Journal also noted Amar's representation of Renesas Electronics America, a major semiconductor company, in all of its employment litigation matters, including a wrongful termination and defamation case, securing a favorable settlement; and noted that she secured the dismissal of class claims on behalf of BevMo, alleging that BevMo's store managers had been misclassified. She litigated all of the individual actions from the store managers, who had been part of the class, favorably settling all of the claims.
