Arnold & Porter's Mark Colley Is New ABA Public Contract Law Section Chair

August 13, 2012

Arnold & Porter LLP Partner Mark D. Colley has been installed as chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Public Contract Law and will serve in that capacity for the next 12 months. Mark is head of the firm's highly-regarded Government Contracts and National Security Practice Group, which for more than four decades has been a leader in the field, effectively offering a full spectrum of government contracts capabilities. Recently, Chambers USA ranked the firm's government contracts group in the nation's top tier and gave special recognition to the practice's client service and commercial awareness.

"These are challenging times for government contractors, which should make this a busy and exciting year for our Section. My hope is this will encourage even greater member involvement in the Section's activities," said Colley. "Our aim is to enhance professional opportunities for the Section's diverse membership, and continue as a leading, objective voice for all stakeholders interested in best public procurement practices."

Mark's experience encompasses the wide scope of the government contracts field, including substantial bid protests, audits and investigations, contract claims and disputes, and compliance counseling. He represents clients engaged in a wide array of military and civilian agency procurements, such as professional services, sophisticated technology and systems, and classified acquisitions.

The mission of the Section of Public Contract Law is to improve public procurement and grant law at the federal, state and local levels, and to promote the professional development of attorney and associate members in public procurement law. The Section's ambitious goal is to be the most reliable, most respected nationwide source of balanced, unbiased, positive recommendations for improving the law relating to procurement (broadly defined) at all levels of government.
