Arnold & Porter LLP Named One of Fortune's 2014 '100 Best Companies to Work For'

January 17, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 17, 2014 - Arnold & Porter LLP has been named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" in 2014 by FORTUNE magazine. It is the tenth year the Firm has been so named to the prestigious list, which is regarded as the most authoritative ranking of its kind, largely because two-thirds of an employer's score is based on a confidential survey of employees.

Arnold & Porter has been recognized on many occasions for its family-friendly benefits and supportive work environment. The firm has been named to Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies" list fourteen times, most recently in 2013. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption also ranked Arnold & Porter in its 2013 "100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces" list. And for several years the firm has received the highest possible rating on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index.

"The 100 Best Companies to Work For" list is compiled by FORTUNE in partnership with the Great Place to Work Institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. The results are based on two criteria: an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company, and the opinions of the company's employees. The latter is given more weight; two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a detailed survey, which goes to randomly selected employees from each company. The remaining one-third of the score is based on an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, pay and benefits programs, and culture. A series of open-ended questions address hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts. More than 250 firms participated in this year's survey and more than 252,000 employees at those companies responded to a survey created by the institute.

Arnold & Porter LLP is an international law firm of nearly 800 lawyers with offices in Brussels, Denver, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington, D. C. The firm, founded in 1946, maintains more than 26 practice areas spanning a broad spectrum of the law, with a primary focus on litigation, transactional matters, and regulatory issues.
