Arnold & Porter Assists Banco de Costa Rica in Its First Syndicated Loan from Bladex
WASHINGTON, DC, January 8, 2015 - Arnold & Porter LLP’s Washington, DC office represented Banco de Costa Rica in obtaining a US$125 million syndicated loan from Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, S.A. (Bladex) and a lending group of nine international lenders. The credit facility was the first such financing agreed to by Costa Rica’s oldest and second largest bank during its 138-year history. The firm’s client will use the proceeds from the five-year, senior unsecured loan to increase its liquidity and grow its US dollar loan portfolio. The deal closed on 19 December 2014.
The Arnold & Porter team in the transaction was led by partner Raul R. Herrera with the assistance of foreign attorney Tomas Winter. Banco de Costa Rica’s legal team included in-house counsel, Maria Alejandra Gutierrez Segnini, and its general counsel, Eduardo Ramirez.
