In Memoriam: Randolph S. Sherman

October 20, 2015

It is with great sadness that Kaye Scholer announces the passing of our great partner, friend and mentor, Randy Sherman.

Randy, a former Chair of the Litigation Department and the Antitrust Practice Group, served the Firm and its clients for almost 50 years, helping grow our Firm and deepen our relationships with some of the Firm's valued clients.

Randy could always be counted on for intellectual rigor, ferocious dedication to the client’s cause, and unparalleled loyalty to the Firm and his colleagues. A talented and creative litigator and problem solver, he played a key role in many of the Firm’s most important cases, contributing to the development of several important areas of the law while obtaining excellent outcomes for the Firm’s clients.

Randy was also a devoted pro bono advocate. In the last year alone, he helped to lead our efforts on national pro bono cases, including a multi-firm collaboration that achieved a settlement in one of the largest series of labor trafficking cases in US history and our ongoing efforts in conjunction with the Brennan Center for Justice to preserve an independent judiciary in the state of Kansas.

Throughout his career at Kaye Scholer, Randy contributed invaluable leadership and wisdom, inspired generations of lawyers and helped define our unique culture. His influence on the many lawyers at Kaye Scholer with whom he worked, and on co-counsel and adversaries, will continue to shape several generations of lawyers into the future.
