Environmental Attorney Peg Carew Toledo Joins Arnold & Porter in California

SAN FRANCISCO, December 4, 2018 — Arnold & Porter announced today that Peg Carew Toledo has joined the firm's Environmental practice as counsel. Ms. Toledo is a California certified appellate specialist and has more than 20 years of experience defending and counseling companies on California's unique toxics law, Proposition 65. She will be resident in the firm's San Francisco office and in Sacramento.

Ms. Toledo brings significant experience as one of California's prominent Proposition 65 defense lawyers. She has deep experience in compliance advice, regulatory advocacy, and litigation defense, including significant appellate matters. She has handled cases alleging exposure to a variety of Proposition 65 listed chemicals including lead, cadmium, phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP and DINP), cocamide DEA, benzophenone, formaldehyde, arsenic, mercury, acrylamide, toluene, benzene, progesterone, PCBs and flame retardants. In addition to Proposition 65 litigation, Ms. Toledo has developed Proposition 65 compliance programs and performed compliance audits of existing products. She adds great depth and broad experience to Arnold & Porter's dozen-lawyer Proposition 65 practice, joining leading practitioners Trent Norris and Sarah Esmaili.

Prior to joining Arnold & Porter, Ms. Toledo was in private practice in Sacramento. She has served in the California Attorney General's Office, and as a law clerk to the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson, a Senior Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Ms. Toledo earned her JD from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, with great distinction, where she was the Associate Articles Editor of The Pacific Law Journal. She received her BA, with honors, in Latin American Studies from Duke University.
