Arnold & Porter Announces Opening of a Seoul Office, Adds Partners James K. Lee and Kyungseok Kim to Korean Team

WASHINGTON, DC, March 4, 2019 — Arnold & Porter today announced that it has been granted a license by the South Korean Ministry of Justice to open an office in Seoul, South Korea. The new office will enhance the Firm's ability to serve its Korean clients, including with respect to cross-border intellectual property, M&A, export control, US litigation, antitrust, international arbitration, and international trade matters.

The office will be led by James K. Lee, who joined the firm as a partner in December 2018. Mr. Lee has represented many of Korea's top companies before US federal and state courts and in arbitration, and he provides counsel on their operations in the United States and other international markets. A Chambers-ranked litigator, he focuses his practice on complex cross-border business disputes, class action defense, arbitrations, and business torts. Prior to joining Arnold & Porter, Mr. Lee served as the global head of an Am Law 20 firm's Korea practice and executive partner of that firm's Seoul office. He earned his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and his BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan.

Also joining the team in Korea is corporate partner Kyungseok (KS) Kim. Mr. Kim, a Chambers-ranked attorney, focuses his practice on complex, cross-border transactions. He counsels on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, international joint ventures, financings, and other general corporate matters. He received his JD from the University of Michigan Law School and his BA from Johns Hopkins University.
