Arnold & Porter Named to The American Lawyer's 2020 'A-List'

August 6, 2020

The American Lawyer has recognized Arnold & Porter as one of 20 firms named to the 2020 A-List. The annual list ranks firms based on a combination of factors, both financial and cultural: revenue per lawyer, pro bono commitment, associate satisfaction, racial diversity, and gender diversity, with revenue per lawyer and pro bono given double weight. The firm moved up 9 places and has been recognized as number 19 on the list.

The American Lawyer said the combination of the coronavirus pandemic and increased focus on racial inequality highlights how important it is for firms to balance financial concerns with social considerations.

"The legal profession needs to use the power of the law to address injustice in this world. The pandemic and the issues in the country with respect to social justice are really laying bare the inequities in the system," Arnold & Porter Chairman Richard M. Alexander said. "Irrespective of the economics, there are important obligations that law firms have, and we expect to double down on that."
