August 29, 2022

Arnold & Porter announced today that Mike Gentine has joined the firm’s leading Consumer Product Safety practice as counsel, resident in Washington, DC.

Mr. Gentine focuses on safety and consumer protection, assisting manufacturers, retailers, and other commercial clients on legal, regulatory, enforcement, and penalty matters before various agencies, including the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Most recently, Mr. Gentine was part of a team defending administrative litigation with CPSC concerning a requested recall, one of only a handful of such litigated matters in recent history. Mr. Gentine served as a former senior counsel for the Office of the CPSC Commissioner Joseph P. Mohorovic (2014–2017). While at CPSC, he helped lead efforts to reform rules and regulations, including an initiative to reduce the paperwork burden on CPSC-regulated companies. Mr. Gentine was also a CPSC legal fellow and law clerk in the Office of Commissioner Nancy Nord.

Arnold & Porter’s product safety work is part of its broader Consumer Products practice, through which the firm represents clients on a broad range of state and federal regulatory matters and in class action litigation.

Mr. Gentine earned his JD from George Washington University Law School and received his BA and MA from Florida State University. He also has governmental legal training including service with the US Senate Judiciary Committee and US Navy Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.
