Justice Richter Named to Crain’s New York’s 2023 ‘Notable LGBTQIA+ Leaders’ List
Arnold & Porter senior counsel Rosalyn Richter was named to Crain’s New York Business’s 2023 ‘Notable LGBTQIA+ Leaders’ list. This list honors LGBTQIA+ individuals who are outstanding professionals within their industry and are “helping organizations root out misconduct, ensuring gender-affirming care, leading significant grantmaking, and more.” This is Justice Richter’s second time being named on the list.
Crain’s recognized Justice Richter for her work in complex litigation at both the trial and appellate level and her pro bono work, specifically on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ community. Crain’s highlighted Justice Richter’s ongoing work representing a transgender girl in school sports in Florida. The publication also highlighted Justice Richter’s work representing a transgender teacher who suffered discrimination, harassment, and abuse from fellow faculty, staff, students, and parents at Prince George County Public Schools in Maryland.
In 2022, Justice Richter was recognized with the “Lifetime Achievement” Award at the New York Legal Awards. She also was recognized with the Paula Ettelbrick Community Service Award at the SAGE Awards for her activism within the LGBTQ+ community.
Prior to joining Arnold & Porter, Justice Richter served as an Associate Justice in the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court, First Department, for over a decade. In that role, she presided over a diverse range of complex issues, including significant commercial and real estate matters, and criminal and matrimonial cases. As a scholar and leader in the legal industry, Justice Richter also serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School and has previously taught at Brooklyn and New York Law Schools. She has helped train judges and lawyers throughout the United States and is firmly committed to pro bono service, advancing civil rights, including for the LGBTQ community, and increasing diversity in the legal profession.
